VAIL, CO, June 17, 2005 -- The
Educational Policy Institute, a non-profit
international think tank on educational
opportunity, partnered with Academic
Impressions, a Denver-based organization
dedicated to fostering interactive opportunities
regarding emerging trends in higher education,
to sponsor a conference dedicated to increasing
student retention at two- and four-year
colleges.
The sold-out conference of participants
from the US, Canada, Mexico, and South
Africa provided an opportunity for campus
teams to think through and develop proactive
plans to increase the year-to-year retention
and persistence to degree rates of their
students.
The conference featured
- Dr. Watson Scott Swail, President
of EPI
- Dr. Peter Dietche, Director of Research,
Mohawk College, Hamilton, Ontario, and
an EPI Senior Scholar
- Dr. Paul Thayer, Executive Director,
Center for Advising and Student Achievement,
Colorado State University
- Ms. Andrea Reeve, Director Academic
Advancement Center, Colorado State University
Participants of the conference developed
plans or built on previously-configured
plans to implement strategies and programs
aimed at curbing the departure of students
on their campus.
