TORONTO, ON -- April 18, 2007
-- The
Educational Policy Institute (EPI) is
pleased to
announce that Dr.
Lori
McElroy will be joining the Institute
as a Senior Scientist. Prior to joining
EPI, Dr. McElroy has been a consultant,
managed her own consulting firm, and
worked as a researcher and manager in
the British
Columbia public sector at the province's
Centre for Education Information. Dr.
McElroy, who holds a doctorate in experimental
psychology, brings with her to EPI a
significant publication record in the
field of education, most notably in the
field of student aid and student retention.
She also has substantial experience in
program evaluation, having led about
two dozen evaluation projects, and with
this important background, will be taking
charge of EPI's growing practice in program
evaluation.
"Dr. McElroy is an outstanding scholar
and researcher who provides us with
additional support in the area of program
evaluation and policy analysis," said
Dr. Watson Scott Swail, EPI President.
While
based
in
Victoria,
BC, Dr. McElroy will conduct work in
the US and Canada, supporting both the
EPI headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia,
as well as EPI Canada's office in Toronto,
Ontario.
As part of her terms of employment with
EPI, Dr. McElroy will continue some private
practice and her contractual arrangements
with existing clients will not be affected
by her new position at EPI.

team of researchers dedicated to improving
public policy in post-secondary education. Dr.
