National Capitol Summit

 

The Educational Policy Institute and the University of Maryland College Park hosted the first annual National Capitol Summit on Latino Students and Educational Opportunity in Washington DC on October 11, 2007. The purpose of the Summit was to bring focus and recognition of the important issues related to the expansion of educational opportunity for the nation's fastest growing constituency.

The event focused on two important areas of Latino educational opportunity: academic preparation and postsecondary access/success. Each session involved two separate plenary panels of experts, including special appearances and speeches by members of the United States Senate and House of Representatives.
