At EPI we are dedicated to the mission
of providing educational opportunities
to underserved students, especially minorities
and those from low-income families. Retention
2008 will bring together the top researchers,
policy makers, and professionals involved
in student retention today. Attendees
will have the chance to interact with
peers struggling with similar retention
issues and gain insight on best practices
and programs that work.
This year's keynote presenters include the Honorable Chaka Fattah, Member of Congress representing Philadelphia area and the man behind GEAR UP; NEA President Reg Weaver; Dan Domenech of McGraw-Hill Education and former Superintendent in Fairfax County, Virginia; Gerald Tirozzi, Executive Director of the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) and former Assistant Secretary of Education; Jay Goff, Dean of Enrollment Management at Missouri University of Science & Technology; Estela Bensimon of the University of Southern California; Alan Seidman, the Executive Director of the Center for the Study of College Student Retention, and Peter Dietsche, William G. Davis Chair in Community College Leadership, University of Toronto; and Harvest Collier, Vice Provost of Undergraduate Programs, Missouri University of Science & Technology. Also invited by unconfirmed is Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
