Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Educational Policy
Institute, I am honored to invite you to Retention 2009 May 27-29, 2009 at
the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in New Orleans.
At EPI we are dedicated to the mission
of providing educational opportunities
to underserved students, especially minorities
and those from low-income families. Retention
2009 will bring together the top researchers,
policy makers, and professionals involved
in student retention today. Attendees
will have the chance to interact with
peers struggling with similar retention
issues and gain insight on best practices
and programs that work.
Guest speakers already confirmed include Vince Papale, the former Philadelphia Eagle receiver whose career was illuminated in the 2006 movie "Invincible." Mr. Paple went on to work in higher education for Sallie Mae. Also joining us are HACU President Antonio Flores, Old Dominion University Dean of Education William Graves, University of Winnipeg President and Vice Chancellor Lloyd
Axworthy, UHouston researcher Amaury Nora, EPI Australia Director Ian Dobson and EPI Canada Director Alex Usher, Dan Domenech, President of the American Association of School Administrators, Betsy Brand, Director of the American Youth Policy Forum, Jay Goff of the Missouri University of Science & Technology, Peter Dietsche of the University of Toronto, and many others.
The Call for Proposals has been announced, and potential presenters have until January 15th, 2009, to get their proposals in for consideration. Early proposals will receive special consideration.
Over the next few months, our website will be updated with hotel and other information. In the meantime, please contact
us at info@educationalpolicy.org or
757-430-2200 if you have any questions.
Tell your friends and colleagues about Retention 2009! I look forward to seeing you in New Orleans.
Sincerely,

Dr. Watson Scott Swail
President and CEO
