National Survey of College Outreach Programs (2010)

Welcome to our National Survey of College Outreach Program Portal. EPI was selected by TG to conduct this important research about the practices utilized in the field to help disadvantaged youth plan, prepare, access, and succeed in college.

The National Survey is an important piece of this project. The survey, which was previously used by Dr. Watson Scott Swail for the 2000 Survey project (The College Board), is being used to get an update on the programs in operation around the United States and the strategies they use to imporve college access and success.

What/Who is the target audience for this survey? The target audience is any pre-college program designed to improve college access for students who are traditionally underrepresented in postsecondary education. These programs can operate at the elementary or secondary levels/ages of education, or during bridge programs before matriculation to college. Programs must serve a minimum of 12 students per year. Examples of programs include:

Programs that are not to be included:

Who should complete this survey? This survey should be completed by the Project Director of the program. It is advisable that the Director download the survey pdf to see what questions are asked so that information (e.g., budget) can be compiled. Then go to the online survey and fill in the information (cut and paste where necessary).

What if we operate several programs? It may be the case that one organization operates several programs (e.g., Talent Search AND Upward Bound). These should be considered separate programs and a survey should be completed for each.

Who do I contact if I have additional questions? Please contact Maly Fung at the Educational Policy Institute: mfung@educationalpolicy.org OR (703) 875-0701.
