Is More Better? The Impact of Postsecondary Education on the Economic and Social Well-Being of American Society

Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (2005)

EPI conducted a literature review and prepared an issue paper that examined the economic and non-economic impacts of higher education on individuals and society as a whole. The literature supports that college graduates receive higher wages, are more likely to be employed, and find jobs more quickly during unemployment (i.e., economic returns) and also enjoy greater life expectancy, health, and quality of life and social status for themselves and their children.
