Dr. Stone has 15 years experience in early intervention, preschool, and K-12 education as an educator and program evaluator. Prior to joining EPI, Dr. Stone conducted comprehensive evaluations of the Success by Eight program, Applied Behavior Analysis program for preschool children with autism, Core Knowledge, and Language Arts Performance Assessments as a programs evaluator with Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). She also provided consultation evaluation services to FCPS to assess the effectiveness of the LEAD Fairfax leadership development program, the Project Excel program to increase student achievement at the lowest performing elementary schools, and special education parent perceptions. As a Senior Research Associate for Caliber Associates, Dr. Stone conducted detailed reviews of educational research to determine validity of methodology approach and effectiveness of curriculum/program content through a contract for the What Works Clearinghouse, funded by the US Department of Education. She also served on a team to conduct comprehensive research reviews of current issues in education using a set of standards to ensure methodological validity and rigor through a contract funded by the National School Boards Association. Dr. Stone has provided technical assistance regarding evaluation and curriculum issues to school-based and central office administrators, school board members, program managers, and service providers. She has been an elementary school classroom teacher, math and reading resource teacher, school librarian, and provided early intervention services to infants and toddlers with developmental delays and disabilities.
